NASA says New Yorkers who missed the last solar eclipse will still be able to catch something across the sky this week.
A rocket scheduled to launch from the space agency’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia at 7 a.m. Tuesday will be visible on the East Coast, including New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, NASA said.
“Wake up early on June 15, drank a cup of coffee and watched Northrop Grumman’s Minotaur 1 rocket as it launched into space,” NASA wrote in a press release.
She added that the missile’s fire streaks should be visible from the Big Apple about 30 to 60 seconds after liftoff.
NASA said the Northrop Grumman rocket will carry three national security payloads for the National Reconnaissance Office, the agency that manages satellites for the Department of Defense.
The missile’s fire streaks should be visible from New York City about 30 to 60 seconds after liftoff.
The launch facility of the US Space Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center will coordinate the launch.
If it’s not possible to watch outdoors, NASA will offer a livestream of the launch beginning at 6:30 a.m. on the Wallops YouTube page, it said. There will also be launch updates posted on the Wallops Facebook and Twitter pages.
