♪ Eddie: As more California gets vaccinated and restrictions start to wear off, here’s another sign today that things are starting to get back to normal. This morning, it was that flag-flying party to celebrate the reopening of Disneyland, more than a year after it closed. Of course for many people, Disneyland is more than just a theme park, it represents tradition, joy, and kid-like fun. Joy Benedict spoke to fans who were excited to finally enter the park again. When they turned the corner onto Main Street USA, many couldn’t stand back. >> They are happy tears. >> The family got here at 2:30 a.m. to wait outside the gate, only to be the first to enter the park. After a year of isolation and fear, they say Disneyland is making it even better. >> I think the Cast members are a big part of the magic. >> Everyone has had a tough year and we need to get the magic back in our lives and that’s it. >> There are fewer crowds and fewer attractions. Disneyland will drop mask requirements for fully vaccinated guests and end restrictions on visitors from outside California starting Tuesday, and the park also said in a statement Monday that as per California’s June 15 reopening plan, there will no longer be physical distance requirements. . Alternatively, guests can “select to walk away by themselves”. Disneyland will also end its practice of checking temperatures at the entrance to the parks. A face covering will still be required indoors, except when eating, for people 2 years of age or older who have not been fully vaccinated. (Video above: Fans return to Disneyland) Disneyland will not require guests to show proof of vaccination, and will instead rely on an honor system where guests “self-certify their compliance.” As part of the reservation process, all guests will have to “provide that they are aware of the State of California’s strong recommendation that guests be fully vaccinated or receive a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering the park.” The park said that all guests must continue to use the reservation system.
