Capcom introduced a rather strange update to Resident Evil Village at E3 2021 today.

Resident Evil Village is getting the downloadable content, but Capcom said it has just started working on it “on popular demand” and teased, “More info later.”

Later. This was him. This is all the info we got about Resident Evil Village DLC. The game that came out a month ago already and is one of Capcom’s biggest franchises, just started working on DLC because they didn’t know that people would love the game so much, I guess?

But, hey, Re: Verse — the Resident Evil online game that comes with Capcom’s promised Villaghe — is coming next month. Wu.

G/O Media may get commission

Resident Evil Village released May 7 for PC, Stadia, next-gen, and last-gen consoles. The horror game continued the story of Ethan Winters, following the events of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. It is the eighth installment in the Resident Evil franchise, which is noted by the title’s heavy design rather than actually calling it Resident Evil 8.

The village was a hit even before it came out for a big reason (that’s the only one I’ll do, I promise). Once Ms. Dmitrescu was revealed, fans were obsessed with — and I really mean by that — asking that the tall woman trample on her, sit on her, and everything else. But it turns out that Ms. Dmitrescu was just one of the characters who made us dread Resident Evil Village. We’ve also been treated to Donna Beneviento’s horror game, Heisenberg Factory from Hell, and The Duke which is sketchy enough on its own.

Yet somehow, the village was still full of comforting pranks and weird slasher movies at the poor hands of Ethan. It was the clear standout amongst this spring’s lineup of games, which was further boosted once Sony revealed it had dominated the PlayStation charts for May.

Even before Village appeared, people were preparing for more and immediately began modifying demos, despite the limited windows available. Of course, there are more messy mods now – you can swap Baby Rose’s head and Chris Redfield’s rock bat, swing around the fly bat, change clothes, and give Mrs. Plus a lot of post-game speculation. All in all, the Capcom E3 announcement is coming at a good time. And given how much the Kotaku staff couldn’t stop talking about when she showed up, you can be sure we’d be walking around the village again.
