Update: The Nintendo Direct has opened for E3 2021 with the reveal of a new DLC character from Smash Bros.
Kazuya Mishima will head from the Tekken franchise to Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Challenger Pack 10 fighter.
Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai appeared in Direct as well to sabotage some of the moves Kazuya will have.
Sakurai-san has added more details about Kazuya that will be revealed in the June 28 broadcast, which will likely announce a DLC release date as well.
After Kazuya’s upcoming release, there will only be another DLC character heading to Fighters Pass 2.
Challenger Pack 11 is set to release sometime this year, with plenty of rumors about who might be coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
Crash Bandicoot, Doomguy, Ryu Hayabusa, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Dante from Devil May Cry, and – of course – Waluigi were all likely to appear on Smash Bros.
But with only one additional content left to be released for the SSBU, there are plenty of fighters rumored to miss.
ORIGINAL: Smash Bros Ultimate fans won’t want to miss the Nintendo E3 Direct’s big day of 2021.
There are only two additional DLC characters to be released for the successful Nintendo Switch fighting game, and Fighters Pass 2 fans will be released before the end of the year. And rumors indicate that the remaining FP2 characters for Super Smash Bros Ultimate could be revealed during today’s Direct.
Challenger Pack 10 and Challenger Pack 11 are the only remaining DLC characters to be released for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
During the last E3 Direct, Nintendo announced two DLC characters – Dragon Quest’s Hero and Banjo & Kazooie – and rumor has it that history could repeat itself for the E3 2021 Direct.
As revealed by Twitter user LastAtari, Masahiro Sakurai’s Nintendo YouTube playlist has two hidden videos.
This playlist contains a selection of Nintendo videos about Smash Bros, and it’s believed that the hidden videos may be for upcoming DLC characters that are revealed at E3.
“I think Smash will be ending with the last two DLC characters tomorrow at E3,” LastAtari said in a news tweet. “It looks like two unavailable videos have been hidden.”
And before the Nintendo E3 Direct, one of the upcoming DLC characters could have leaked early.
As highlighted on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors Reddit page, the data maker could have found clues to some upcoming E3 announcements.
The data worker, Nikki, discovered some encrypted eShop information.
Four codes people are trying to decipher have been found, with two of these codes unencrypted.
One of the eShop icons is said to be for Metroid V, while the other is for Master Chief.
The latter may be a hint that Halo’s Spartan hero may be heading to Smash Bros. as a DLC fighter.
It has long been rumored that the Xbox icon is coming to Smash Bros. as a DLC character.
And these rumors only gained more weight after Banjo & Kazooie – another Microsoft-owned IP – arrived at Smash Bros. as DLC.
Other rumors include characters who could be headed to Smash Bros., Kingdom Heart’s Sora, Crash Bandicoot, Doom’s Doomguy, Ninja Gaiden’s Ryu Hayabusa, and – of course – Waluigi.
We don’t have long to know what characters could be heading to Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
Nintendo Direct for E3 2021 takes place in a few hours at 5 PM GMT today (Tuesday, June 15).
After the remaining Fighters Pass 2 characters are released, no more DLC will be released for SSBU.
