Apple’s latest iPad Pro is a powerful, future-proof tablet with the same chipset as the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac. Although it’s been about a month, Amazon has already slashed the price of the larger 12.9-inch model with WiFi and 256GB of storage. Right now, the iPad Pro is available for $1,099, which saves $100, which you can put in a keyboard.

We gave the “extremely powerful” tablet a review score of 87 upon release. The M1 system on the chip handles even the most stressful tasks — such as 4K video editing — relatively quickly. Playing and browsing the web is easy for a powerful processor. As for the battery, Apple says you can expect 10 hours of use on a single charge, which we managed to review most of the time.
Design-wise, the new model is slightly thicker and heavier, but that’s mainly due to the Liquid Retina XDR display, which takes up more space than Apple’s traditional LCD screens. The change is especially noticeable when broadcasting. Full screen brightness reaches 1,000 nits when watching a movie or video, and bright elements in HDR can reach 1,600 nits.
The front camera also received an upgrade: it now has a 12MP wide sensor that should create FaceTime and Zoom calls. Meanwhile, a new feature called Center Stage uses machine learning and a wide field of view to keep you centered in the frame, even when you’re on the go.
On top of that, Apple’s new iPadOS 15 is due out in the fall, with new features including a redesigned Home screen with built-in widgets, an App Library, new multitasking tools and views, and a Notes update that lets you share notes and quickly access the app.
In sum, the iPad Pro is a truly excellent device with a rich variety of features. As you can tell the price, it is closer to a laptop than a regular tablet. Apple also offers storage options up to 2TB, a smaller 11-inch screen, and 5G support. All of that can fluctuate in price from $799 for the base model to $2,399 for the higher-spec version.
