The season was on the line for the Philadelphia 76ers. They blew up a two-game winning streak and found themselves in the elimination encounter against the Atlanta Hawks on the road in Game Six on Friday. Everything was on board in order to keep the title hopes alive.
The Sixers had a big performance from Seth Curry as he scored 24 points and defeated six triples to help the Sixers keep the season alive with a 104-99 victory on the road. Philadelphia really needed all his efforts in this matter as they needed someone to step up and take control of this.
Tobias Harris added 24 points and five rebounds, Joel Embiid 22 points and 13 rebounds, Therese Maxi was phenomenal with 16 hits and seven rebounds off the bench, and Ben Simmons had six points and nine rebounds and five assists.

The starting unit didn’t start the game well as the Falcons jumped it early. In need of a spark, coach Doc Rivers turned to the novice. Maxi came in and was aggressive going downhill and making things happen at the end of the attack. He was putting pressure on the Atlanta defense allowing Philadelphia to get back in after they fell by a double early and the Hawks were on the verge of breaking the match. He was also big in the second half as a dangerous source of attack because he wasn’t afraid of the moment.
However, he struggled in the defensive end. He had a hard time staying up against Trae Young, a really tough job for any 20-year-old rookie, but he hurt the Sixers at that end. Rivers had to bring Simmons back into the game in the second quarter. On the flip side, Simmons didn’t do a great job because he looked frustrated to start the match.
Carrie Play is a massive X-Factor game for Philadelphia. His 3-point shot opens up a lot of things for the Sixers at the offensive end of the ground and kept Philadelphia afloat in the first half with his shot. He was aggressive when off the screens, did not hesitate to shoot, and made life easy for others to attack.
His energy to start the third quarter was huge for the Sixers. Late by four in the first inning, Curry defeated a triple before hitting Embiid one, then Curry defeated another couple by three throws and had Philadelphia a double-digit lead in third. His game and energy were phenomenal in this win. There’s no telling where The Sixers are if he doesn’t confidently step in with these late-night picks.
It’s hard to tell if that’s what caused a meniscus tear in his right knee, but the great tenderness hasn’t looked the same in the past few games. He was destroying the Atlanta double teams at the beginning of the series, but he started to have some problems at the back end of the series and the Philadelphia Murder Kill. There were several times in the first quarter where Embiid was turning in the wrong direction and going in the direction of a turn. One led to Kevin Huerter’s triple disability and early double-digit disability.
The old boy looked outside to start the match. He was battling a meniscus tear and had deflated the tank a bit in Game 5, but he seemed a slow stride in defense, then in attack, he settled on a jump and his passes were lazy. He didn’t hit the ball well from the ground again, but he looked more involved in the second half which was key to a win of this magnitude.
