METERI, Los Angeles – Alvin Camara has officially become a star for two sports.
The New Orleans Saints in decline were named NASCAR’s first growth and participation advisor on Sunday, continuing their growing relationship with the sport over the past year.
“I’m excited that they did a role for me,” Camara said Sunday. “I got a desk, I got a key card. I feel like I didn’t have a job besides the NFL, so I’ve got two jobs now. [Saints coach] Sean Payton will have to give me some time.”

Camara, who grew up near Atlanta and went to college in Tennessee, has recently become a fan of NASCAR. He first appeared as a public supporter of NASCAR on social media last June after the organization banned Confederate flags from racetracks. Then NASCAR invited Camara to his first race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where he came out to support driver Bubba Wallace – who pushed for a policy change and debuted the Black Lives Matter paint scheme.

Then in February, Kamara decided to sponsor driver Ryan Vargas with the Kamara juice bar series at the Xfinity Series race in Daytona after learning Vargas had no funding.
“Alvin’s journey to NASCAR occurred very organically from that initial curiosity to experience our events to developing a true and sincere passion for the sport,” said Pete Young, NASCAR Chief Marketing Officer. “This is what we look forward to taking advantage of… his vision, his perspective, his ideas… and learning more about his experience so we can enhance what we’re doing to attract and develop new fans.”
According to NASCAR, the collaboration between NASCAR and Team Kamara at the Klutch Sports Group will focus on connecting new audiences with NASCAR through immersive and educational experiences that help them learn more about the sport. Kamara will interact live with fans at the races – including Sunday’s race at the Nashville Superspeedway – and share the NASCAR fan journey through digital and social media content.
