The Pistons will take Cady Cunningham

The Eastern Conference became stricter.

The Pistons’ terrible season finally came to an end when they won the NBA sweepstakes Tuesday night. That would give Detroit the No. 1 default pick in Cade Cunningham, who can play the points guard or winger at 6-foot-8 and will begin rebuilding. The Pistons have sent promising rookies Seddik Bay and Killian Hayes this season to keep up with superstar Jeramy Grant.

Pistons, Rockets and Magic had the best odds at 14 percent. The Rockets are sure to pick second, which puts them in one spot of the Big Five – Cunningham, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green, Jonathon Cominga and Evan Mobley.

Cleveland will pick third, Toronto fourth, and Orlando fifth. All these teams in one location of the elite group.

With the Warriors getting two lottery picks, imagine their 14th pick is the proper pick, as the Knicks look to go from 19th and 21st.

1. Detroit Pistons

Kid Cunningham, Oklahoma State (G/F, 6-8, 220 pounds)

Is he a point guard? Is he a small striker? He is everything and would look good alongside point guard Hayes as a three-tier scorer who does it all. Cunningham can shoot the 3, pass, drive and defend. The pistons may make a leap east.

2. Houston Rockets

Jalen GreenG-League Ignite (SG, 6-6, 178)

The team that stole all their star power will go with the player with the highest height. With his speed and ability to leap off the charts, the high-scoring winger is an approved pick among the top three but hasn’t impressed as expected in the G-League bubble. It’s more of a project than anticipated months ago, but it had a strong ending.

Evan Mobley USC (Midfield, 7-0, 215)

The Cavaliers have a lot of point guards, so they’ll pass Galen Suggs. Mobley is a great, shooting blocker, and versatile defender with 3-point potential, comparisons to Chris Bosh. Lone knock is that it does not have a game post-up.

4. Toronto Raptors

Galen Suggs Gonzaga (kids, 6-4, 205)

Although they have Fred Van Fleet, Kyle Lowry is leaving. Suggs are too good to be missed here, and VanVleet and Suggs can form a tandem. Suggs is a playmaker, an intelligent guard who excels in the transition and a tenacious contender for the Gonzaga superpower that reached the NCAA Finals.

5. Orlando Magic

Jonathan Cominga (SF, 6-8, 220)

Orlando is in full rebuilding – again – and the player with the highest rise has taken off. This large 7-foot wingspan can defend multiple positions and is explosive with the ability to create his own shot. The scouts in the G-League bubble loved him – although few fans saw a player who might have the second highest high in the entire draft.

6. Oklahoma City Thunder

Scotty Barnes, Florida State (females, 6-9, 227)

Thunder’s exchange with Golden State can be seen for the club coveting this impressive and versatile defender with a 7-2 swing. Oklahoma City is trying to set the record for most first rounds. Barnes is a ball drive with a high basketball IQ, but he was a disappointment with his three balls (27.5 percent).

Scotty Barnes Golden State Warriors (via Timberwolves)

Keon Johnson TN (G/F, 6-5, 186)

The Warriors are trying to win now, and Johnson can help the defense. This is his strong suit, and he’s arguably the best athlete in the draft. But the high person is not much of a threat with a potential future for role playing.

8. Orlando Magic (via Bulls)

Alperin Cingon Turkey (PF, 6-10, 240)

With Markelle Fultz and Cole Anthony on the list, adding a point guard like Davion Mitchell makes no sense, so why not roll the dice on the cream of the international crop. Kristaps Porzingis is a poor guy, who turns 19 in July and flies under the radar despite being the best player in the Turkish league. His American company is Kevin Love.

9. Sacramento Kings

Davion Mitchell Baylor (kids, 6-2, 202)

A team eager for a Baylor guard might lead the Kings to trade this choice. Mitchell didn’t hold back on anything, helping lead Baylor to the NCAA title with determination and defense and could hit 3 (44.7 percent). The concern is the lack of volume.

10. New Orleans Pelicans

Franz Wagner Michigan (SF, 6-9, 200)

The Pelicans could use more 3-point shooting to corner Zion Williamson. Mo Wagner’s brother, Franz can be a powerful 3D with a slight improvement in his good looking shot from behind the bow.

11. Charlotte Hornets

Moses Moody, Arkansas (SG, 6-6, 211)

A potential 3D guy Danny Green with 6-11 wingspan for a club that needs more defenders.

12. San Antonio Spurs

Cory Kisbert Gonzaga (SF, 6-7, 224)

Looks like a decent Greg Popovich, looking for winners. In the league it’s all about shooting, Kispert is a 3-point lead scorer, reaching 44 percent for the NCAA Final.

13. Indiana Pacers

James Buknaitocon (G, 6-4190)

It would be a blessing if the Knicks could trade here with a late lottery and a Brooklynnet decoy, a walking bucket. They need to score goals in the backcourt, a shot maker with the potential to improve from 3.

14. Golden State Warriors

Galen Johnson Duke (SF, 6-9 220)

Imagine that warriors would shop around in this selection. If not, they would get the best available player in Johnson, who didn’t improve his stock in college with a mediocre freshman year and then quit before the end of the season. But he is very skilled – an elite transitional player, a good passerby and has a positive side.
