TL; DR
The renders and some features of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 have been leaked. The smartwatch appears to have a thicker body and wider straps. It should come with revamped Wear OS software.
Samsung is expected to release two new smartwatches with different models on June 28. The star of the show will be the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, but the company is also expected to announce the Galaxy Watch Active 4, the successor to the popular Galaxy Watch Active 2. Now, Tipster OnLeaks, in collaboration with GizNext, has leaked the first renders of the new Active series wearable along with some details about its features.
As indicated in the renderings, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 retains the circular display of its predecessor. Leakers claim that the 2D flat glass protects the screen.
The most notable changes can be seen in the design of the bezel, buttons and strap. The watch itself looks thicker and so does the strap. The two buttons on the right edge of the device also have a different shape.
Leaked information indicates that the Galaxy Watch Active 4’s body is made of aluminum. It will come in 40mm and 44mm sizes, just like the Galaxy Watch Active 2.
The smartwatch also comes in four different colors, including black, silver, green, and gold. However, the shades depicted in these shows are not 100% accurate.
In terms of features, the leak indicates that Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 will carry the new Wear OS 3.0 software. Samsung and Google have teamed up to revamp Wear OS and the new smartwatch should be one of the first wearables to hit the market.
Elsewhere, leakers claim that the watch will use a 5nm processor, so it can’t be one of Qualcomm’s 12nm Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset or Samsung’s home-made Exynos 9110 chipset that powers the Galaxy Watch Active 2.
Unfortunately, the leak doesn’t reveal any other information about the watch’s health and fitness features, but you won’t have to wait long to find out because the launch will be next week.
