Tensions escalated somewhat after the Phoenix Suns beat the Los Angeles Clippers in Game Two after an out-of-bounds pass from Jae Crowder to DeAndre Ayton for a 104-103 win. As the two teams walked to their seats awaiting the official basket review, the Clippers big man pushed Cameron Payne and Devin Booker.
Nothing escalated past that point as Cousins continued to walk on the bench and his teammates came to drag Booker away. However, the NBA announced Wednesday afternoon that a technical fault had been assessed toward Cousins due to the incident.
Here is a video of what happened:
Cousins saw his playing time increase in the Western Conference Finals to match the Suns’ size, but in Game 1 he had five fouls in just 13 minutes of excitement. He played less than five minutes into Game 2, and was put into the match to defend Crowder with the ball. However, Cousins’ size hasn’t stopped Phoenix from pulling off one of the game’s most exciting post-season winning buckets in recent memory.
With the win in Game 2, the Suns now hold a 2-0 lead in the Clippers series with the series moving to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday.
