Former President Donald Trump returned to the campaign trail in Ohio Saturday night to cast his support for Republican congressional candidate Max Miller in a bid to oust Representative Anthony Gonzalez.
In his first major campaign event since leaving office, Trump held a raucous rally in Wellington, southwest of Cleveland, where he condemned Gonzalez as a “cheat” and a “disgrace.”

Gonzalez was one of ten Republican members of the House of Representatives who voted to impeach Trump over his alleged role in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
“It’s a wonderful RINO [Republican in name only] — disrespectful in DC — who voted for illegal, unconstitutional, and illegal impeachment,” Trump told his supporters, again calling it a “witch hunt.”
Trump assured the crowd that he was not backing Miller, his former White House aide, just to annoy Gonzales.
“That’s not why I’m doing this,” Trump said. “But I thought it was a character trait that wasn’t good.”

Miller announced his campaign for Congress after Gonzales voted to impeach the former president.
“I need all of your help to get RINO, Tony’s renegade from his position,” Miller said, referring to someone who changed his allegiances.
Trump has summoned other members of the Republican Party he believes have betrayed the Republican Party, including Representative Liz Cheney, Senator Mitt Romney and Senator Mitt Romney, both of whom voted to impeach him.
