How to watch: Columbus Crew vs Austin FC

[ad_1]

It happens. In 2017, the idea was for Columbus Crew to move to Austin, Texas. Four years later, The Crew plays Austin FC’s newest MLS club in their new home at Q2 Stadium. Austin FC is owned by former Black & Gold owner Anthony Precourt, who attempted to move the club to Austin, sparking the Save The Crew movement that kept the club in Columbus. It’s one of only two matches for Columbus against the Western Conference this year and it’s on national television.

For head coach Caleb Porter, this is a game where he has flown “twice” on the calendar with full knowledge of this game’s inside stories. A three-game span also begins for the club that plays at each of the newer MLS stadiums (Q2 Stadium, Lower.com Field and TQL Stadium). As for football, the crew didn’t get many points down the road with just one win in five games after losing 1-0 at Philadelphia Union on Wednesday.

The Austin Club has enjoyed his time in the spotlight but his struggles are no secret. Austin’s unbeaten run in the last seven games has put the team third at the Western Conference table. Head coach Josh Wolff and his team are still searching for their first home goal after a 0-0 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes in Austin FC’s opener on June 19.

Injuries and suspensions:

Crew: Arthur (right hip), Aidan Morris (left knee), and Bradley Wright-Phillips (right thigh) outside. Perry Kitchen (right thigh), Luis Diaz (right knee), and Josh Williams (left ankle) are in question.

Austin: Nick Lima (left hamstring), Ben Sweet (ACL), Ulysses Segura (left knee), Aaron Schoenefeld (left knee) and Danny Hosen (left hip) are knocked out. Matt Bessler (right foot) and Alex Ring (right ankle) are in question.
