“Find the difference! #twinning !oliviarodrigo,” Love, whose name was popular on Twitter all day Sunday (27 June), was first mocked on Instagram on Thursday (24 June). It included a winking face and two queen emojis.
Rodrigo left one comment on Love’s post: “I love you and live this very much.”
“Olivia – You’re welcome. My favorite florist in Notting Hill, London! DMB for Dates! Looking forward to reading your note!” Love responded to the “Driving License” singer. Billboard reached out to representatives of both Love and Rodrigo for more comments on Sunday.
The mention of love for flowers and the note was in reference to thoughts she was leaving at the same time on her official Facebook page, where she continued the conversation about Rodrigo over the weekend.
“It was rude of her, and Geffen not to ask myself or Elaine von Unwerth. It’s happened all my career so I’m a DC. But morals are morals!” Love said in response to one follower on Facebook. Geffen Records is Rodrigo’s current record label, and Unwerth was the photographer behind the cover of Live Through This.
In another Facebook comment, Love said, “Stealing an original idea and not asking for permission is rude. There’s no way to be classy about it. I’m not mad. It happens all the time to me.”
“That was bad form,” she noted. “This isn’t bullying or throwing bombs. These people’s music has nothing to do with my life. You probably never will. It was rude and I gave every right to stick with my work. Don’t guard me!—To my fellow artists, I expect the same.”
“It’s on GEFFEN,” Love added in another comment thread. “I told her I’ve been waiting to notice her flowers. I’m sure it’s a long time. Does Disney teach kids to read and write? God knows. Let’s see. Yeah that’s rude. Anger is a catalyst? Honey if I had a dollar for everyone this going on? I’d be really rich!” “
Rodrygo, whose debut album returned to number one on the Billboard 200 this week, posted several inspiring photos, including a still from Carrey’s movie, to shoot on Instagram Stories last week.
