Bian Wang is Denver7’s newest anchor and reporter, joining the team in June 2021.
The Orange County native served the California community of Bakersfield for two years with sister station Denver 7 as a broadcaster and weekend reporter before the big move to Colorado. During his time there, he wrote primarily on crime, public safety, and local politics.
His most notable coverage includes the 2020 disappearance of two young brothers, which made the rounds in national headlines. His coverage of their disappearance has made him a special guest on multiple national networks, including Court TV, Fox Nation’s Crime Stories with Nancy Grace, and the Black News Channel, and his work on the case has also appeared on ABC News.
Other notable coverage by Bayan includes the 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Ridgecrest in 2019, the largest in California in two decades.
He also spoke about former President Donald Trump’s visit to Bakersfield, first lady Jill Biden’s visit, civil unrest and local protests amid the death of George Floyd, the effects of the pandemic on Kern County, and the political division in Bakersfield.
Away from the press, Bayan married the love of his life Nicole in 2019. His second love is basketball. He plays competitively at least five days a week and you can find him on the courts at Washington Park all summer long.
Half-Chinese, half-Iranian statement. His father was born in Taiwan and raised in New York before moving to Los Angeles. His mother was born in Tabriz, Iran and raised there until her teens before the Iranian revolution forced her family to flee the country as refugees. California will be their new home. Bayan is fluent in Farsi and wishes he had learned Mandarin. He has one younger brother named Justin.
