PlayStation Japan Appears in Leaked Bluepoint Games Acquisition

[ad_1]

A tweet from the PlayStation Japan Twitter account likely revealed that the company had acquired Bluepoint Games, the US studio behind the remake of Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.

The now-deleted tweet was spotted by edit user ResetEra as well as Nibel on Twitter who both posted independent images of the tweet, which shows Japanese text accompanied by Bluepoint gaming artwork and English text “Welcome to family.”

The tweet was posted by PlayStation Japan around the same time that PlayStation announced its acquisition of Housemarque. The artwork used in both tweets is nearly identical apart from two main differences; One has the Bluepoint Games logo instead of Housemarque, and the deleted photo also has Demon’s Souls key art in the games montage in the background. This suggests that PlayStation Japan may not have simply placed the wrong logo, but instead an entirely incorrect piece of custom-made art for an upcoming announcement. As such, it may take a short time for PlayStation to announce its acquisition of Bluepoint Games.

Bluepoint Games was founded in 2006 and has built a reputation for producing high-level remakes of beloved games. The studio’s newest game, Demon’s Souls, is a sophisticated recreation of the latest 2009 FromSoftware cult classic, released to rave reviews.
