Anthony Aguero, a close ally of Representative Marjorie Taylor Green, can be seen in videos and photos with Republican members of Congress who traveled to a road along the border frequented by immigrants on Tuesday night. CNN’s KFile previously reported that Aguero went to the Capitol during the January 6 riots and chanted and justified the intrusion.

Aguero told his viewers that the Border Patrol was “nurturing” migrants crossing the border to a specific location, saying, “We’re about to catch them all because they’re basically getting out of the woodwork.”

In a statement, Aguero told CNN, “I appreciate the members of Congress and the congresswomen who did their best to come to the border to see the crisis for themselves.” He did not answer questions about how he was on the border with members of Congress.

Aguero was not charged with illegal entry into the US Capitol on January 6. After chanting “heave-ho” as the rioters attempted to storm, he entered the Capitol Rotunda and then chanted “our home” on the steps of the Capitol. In a live broadcast the day after the Capitol riots, he attacked those who condemned the looting of the Capitol. The FBI previously declined to comment on whether it was investigating Aguero in an email to CNN. The trip to the border in La Joya, Texas, was organized by the Republican Study Committee, a group of conservative members of the House of Representatives, and covered by reporters from CNN, Politico, The Hill, and members of the conservative media. The members were on a visit ahead of former President Donald Trump’s visit to the border on Wednesday. Aguero sat in the audience directly behind the former president on Wednesday night during Trump’s appearance on Hannity, and it is not clear how Aguero joined the group on Tuesday night, as he was not at the press conference prior to the trip attended by reporters, he said. Photo and CNN reporter present. He was already in the area when members of Congress arrived.

Buckley Carlson, RSC’s deputy director of communications, said Aguero’s presence at the border was “purely accidental.”

“Chairman (Jim) Banks has never spoken with the individual concerned, the Republican Study Committee was not aware of his identity and whereabouts on January 6, and he has not traveled with our group to the border,” Carlson said in a statement to CNN.

Aguero, who told members of Congress he was there as a “freelance journalist” with Border Network News, posted a lengthy livestream on his YouTube channel in which he was seen giving interviews and sometimes translating conversations with immigrants for lawmakers. Boebert, Tiffany, August Pfluger from Texas, and Randy Weber from Texas. In one case, Aguero drove Webber in his truck after a congressman missed his truck.

“Come right to the front, Congressman,” Aguero said with a laugh. “You can ride with me at the front.” Aguero also took a picture with Boebert at the end of his broadcast.

Aguero previously ran in the 2020 Republican congressional primary for Texas’s 16th congressional district, which includes most of El Paso and the surrounding suburbs, but lost.

The videographer, who sometimes uses the Internet moniker “Anthony Conservative,” often documents immigrants along the US-Mexico border and the activities of activists and right-wing militias, including the Guardian Patriots, the frontier militia group formerly known as the United Constitutional Patriots, and the Proud Boys: in One of the disturbing clips that Aguero filmed in April 2019 and featured in the PBS documentary “Targeting El Paso”, Aguero can be heard shouting at migrants crossing the border and seen shedding light on migrants’ faces. In the clip, Aguero tells a group of migrants that they are “coming out like cockroaches, from everywhere”. According to PBS, the clip was viewed 160,000 times before Aguero deleted it from Facebook.

According to online court records, he also has a history of criminal violence. In 2010, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of domestic violence causing serious bodily injury. In 2015, he was convicted of the drunken motor vehicle assault and sentenced to two years in a Texas state prison.
