Between the Lightning and Buccaneers’ championship victories, the Tampa Bay area has seemingly entered a new golden age for its sports teams. Once again, Tampa Bay Lightning has a chance to stand above the rest of the National Hockey League and lift the Lord Stanley Cup for the second year in a row.
Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final takes place between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Montreal Canadiens tonight, and there’s a lot at stake for both teams. The Lightning enters tonight’s game in Montreal with a 2-0 lead in the series, and is in a position to approach a repeat with its third win. Montreal, looking for their first Stanley Cup victory since 1993, is under tremendous pressure to break through after struggling to score in their first two games, losing 5-1 3-1 to Tampa Bay.
While the burden of performance rests largely with Canadians, Lightning is not without their problems. Winger Alex Killorn, who sustained a lower body injury in game one, was disqualified for the second consecutive game of the series.
Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final begins at 8 p.m. ET, with coverage on NBC.
