The USGS said: “While it has been above average for a month, this is by no means unprecedented.
“For example, more than 1,100 earthquakes were recorded during the month of June 2017.”
The strongest earthquake that occurred last month was a fairly minor earthquake of magnitude 3.1 on June 28.
According to the USGS, this earthquake was part of a series of tremors that hit the same area on June 19.
Geologists have confirmed that none of this is evidence of a volcanic eruption under Yellowstone.
