Tropical Storm Elsa slows as it moves toward Jamaica. Forecasters say there is potential to see impacts across Florida, and there is now a tropical storm watch application in the Florida Keys from Craig Key westward to dry Tortugas. At 11 a.m. Sunday, the center of Tropical Storm Elsa was located 50 miles north of Kingston, Jamaica, according to meteorologists. Tropical Storm Elsa slows as it moves toward Jamaica. Forecasters say there is potential to see the effects across Florida.

The Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect for Florida Keys from Craig Key west to Dry Tortugas.

At 11 a.m. Sunday, the center of Tropical Storm Elsa was located 50 miles north of Kingston, Jamaica, according to meteorologists. Elsa was moving west-northwest near 13 mph with maximum winds of 60 mph.

Forecasters say Elsa will decelerate further over the course of Sunday, as it changes direction from northwest to Monday.

Elsa is expected to move near Jamaica and parts of eastern Cuba on Sunday.

The National Hurricane Center expects the hurricane to move through central and western Cuba, toward the Straits of Florida by Monday. Elsa is expected to move near or over parts of Florida’s west coast on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Forecasters say Elsa could weaken slightly as it moves across Cuba from Sunday to Monday, before seeing slight strength over the Florida Straits.
