A suspect was arrested Thursday in the fatal shooting of a professional golfer on a country club course in Georgia, near where two other men were found dead in the bed of a truck.
Cobb County officials said Brian Roden has been arrested in connection with three murders and faces three counts of murder, three counts of aggravated assault and two counts of kidnapping.
Cobb County Sheriff Tim Cox said Thursday night that Roden, who was arrested in the Chambley area, is believed to be the only shooter.
The investigation made national headlines after Gene Siler, an employee of the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, was found apparently with a bullet to the head.
Police said in a statement earlier this week that Sealer was killed after he saw a crime involving two other men.
Police said he was on the green of the 10th hole at about 2:20 p.m. Saturday. Two more bodies, both with gunshot wounds, were found in the bed of a nearby Ram 3500 truck.
The two additional victims have been identified as Henry Valdez, 46, of California, and Paul Pearson, 76, of Kansas. The truck was registered to Pearson, and neither of the two men appeared to be connected to the Pinetree Country Club.
“Mr. Seiler has engaged in an ongoing crime involving the unknown suspect and the two deceased men found in the truck,” a police statement said. “He does not appear to have been targeted in any way, but rather murdered because he witnessed an active crime taking place,” he added.
Sealer, who was in his 40s, was a member of the Pinetree Country Club and previously worked as golf manager and chief professional golfer at Summit Chase Country Club, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.
“I loved him so much, and I’m so sad,” Sealer’s widow, Ashley, said on Tuesday afternoon.
