Netflix Reveals Season 2 Premiere Date, Key Art – Deadline

Netflix threw a coin and some to fans of The Witcher on Friday, unveiling the main art and premiere date of the much-anticipated second year of the fantasy drama Henry Cavill.

The streaming company partnered with Cyberpunk and The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red at the inaugural WitcherCon on Friday, where they unveiled news about the series and video game franchise, including a new look at The Witcher Season 2.

Season two will follow Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), convinced that Yennefer’s life has been lost in the Battle of Sodden, who seeks to bring Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home Kaer Morhen. As the continent’s kings, elves, mortals, and demons fight for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something even more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses within.

The main art is based on the cryptic teaser that Netflix shared in June during its Geeked Week event, teasing Freya Allan’s Ciri, mysterious runes, and more.

The second season’s production journey was a treacherous one for The Witcher. Production in west London was blatantly halted in November 2020 after several people involved in the series tested positive for Covid-19. Just one month into the second season, production was halted again as Cavill sustained an injury on the set. Production concluded in April.

Finally, The Witcher Season 2 is set to premiere on December 17, with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich serving as executive producer and presenter. Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Job, and Jaroslav Sauko are also executive producers.
