A shooting at the Aquarium in downtown Houston on Thursday evening killed two people and injured a woman, police in Texas said.

Houston Police Chief Executive Matt Selinkard said at a news conference that their initial investigation indicated that a man sitting in the bar at an aquarium restaurant appeared to have walked toward a couple eating at the far end of the bar and shot them.

“This suspect got up and, very quickly, circled the bar to the area where the male and female were together. The suspect at that time immediately started firing,” Selinkard said.

Selinkard said the suspect shot the man and the woman before aiming the gun at himself. Both men were killed. The woman survived the wounds and her condition is stable.

“We still have a lot of investigation to do,” Selinkard said, adding that “initially, it appears that there was very little, or perhaps no interaction” between the two groups before the shooting.

Houston police said in an update Friday morning that the motive was “unknown” and that according to a statement from the victim who “was hit by at least one bullet in the leg,” the couple were married and did not know a suspect.

HPD has not identified victims or suspects at this time, a spokesperson for NBC News said Friday.
