Trump tells Republican senators to stop working with Democrats on infrastructure bill

Former President Donald Trump has called on “RINO Republicans” to stop working on a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure plan, warning that they are “only played by radical left Democrats.”

“[T]Hey won’t give you anything! Trump said in a statement released Friday evening.

The compromise package — announced by President Biden last month and still being drafted — includes $579 billion in new spending, with $300 billion earmarked for transportation, $250 billion for broadband, and power and water infrastructure.

While the bill could reach the Senate floor for a vote as soon as possible on July 19, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she won’t bring it up in the House until the Senate passes a much larger bill — at a $6 trillion price — through Parliamentary maneuver for reconciliation. The move will enable Senate Democrats to circumvent legislative stalling and enforce their legislation with just 51 votes.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday he believes there is a “good chance” of the bipartisan bill “might meet.”

“All I said was that I wanted to pay for it,” he told the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. We’ve added enough to the national debt.

Republicans insisted they not pay for the legislation by scrapping the 2017 tax cuts enacted by Trump, a point the 45th president emphasized Friday night.

“It is very important that Senate Republicans do not allow our hard-earned tax cuts to be terminated or modified on an upward trajectory in any way, shape, or form,” he said. “They shouldn’t be making deals about raising taxes on the Democrats’ bogus infrastructure proposals, almost all of which go to the ridiculous Marxist Green New Deal agenda.

“Keep Trump Administrations [sic] Tax cuts only where they are.” “Do not allow for tax increases. Thinking about it, I’ve never seen anything so easy to win politically.”

Democrats hope the larger bill will address so-called “unconventional infrastructure” and include initiatives to tackle climate change and additional spending on welfare programs.
