Phoenix – If only for a moment, Giannis Antetokonmo regained his anonymity on Monday night.
It was late inside a hotel in suburban Phoenix as the most reluctant NBA star returned from a day filled with rehab and walked through the hallway in a casual manner that would later become huge news. He was only six days away from that horrific fall in Atlanta, when his left leg bent backwards like a plastic spoon somehow didn’t break, and he’d go to bed later thinking he’d been out for a year.
However, he’s here on the eve of his first Final, his stunning comeback against the Phoenix Suns is quietly in the works, and he’s facing an obstacle of an entirely different kind as midnight approaches: he loses his room key.
