Richard Branson’s flight comes just nine days before Jeff Bezos’s flight into space with his brother.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos wished billionaire Richard Branson a “successful and safe flight” ahead of his scheduled flight into space today. Mr. Branson’s flight comes just nine days before Bezos’s flight into space with his brother.
Mr. Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, will fly into space aboard the VSS Unity SpaceShipTwo rocket plane. The spaceship will fly at an altitude of 55 miles (about 88.51 km), after which the pilots will cut off the engines, allowing it to drift for 5 minutes. In those few minutes, crew members will feel weightless. Through the spaceship’s windows, passengers can see the curvature of the Earth.
In an Instagram post, Bezos wished Branson and “the entire team a successful and safe journey.”
Virgin Galactic also features a timer set to celebrate the “launch of the new space age.” “We are at the forefront of a new industry determined to pioneer spacecraft in the 21st century, which will open up the space for everyone – and change the world forever,” Mr.
About the experiment, the site states that the “spaceship and mother ship” will “climb together to just under 50,000 feet” after which the pilot will launch the spaceship from the mother ship. “The spaceship’s rocket ignites, sending the craft into space at just over Mach 3. The colors outside the window change from blue to indigo to black as you reach space and the rocket engine turns off,” the description on the site adds.
Then through the spacecraft’s 17 windows, passengers can “see the house (Earth) for the first time”. Inside the cabin, 16 cameras will record “every moment of the experience in HD”.
On today’s spaceflight, Mr. Branson will be accompanied by Dave MacKay, Chief Pilot, Michael Masucci, Pilot, Sirisha Bandla, Vice President for Government Affairs and Research Operations, Colin Bennett, Chief Operations Engineer, and Pete Moses, Senior Astronaut Instructor.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk also wished Branson was ahead of the flight and said, “See you there,” meaning he could be present at the launch.
I will see you there to wish you the best

Last month, in an Instagram post, Bezos shared a clip telling his followers why he decided to go to space. “Since I was five years old, I have dreamed of traveling to space. On July 20, I will be taking this flight with my brother. The greatest adventure, with my best friend.” He also posted the hashtag “GradatimFerociter” – the Blue Origin logo, which means “step by step, fiercely”.
Mr. Branson founded Virgin Galactic in 2004. Previously, he had crossed the Pacific Ocean in a hot air balloon. The 70-year-old had also kite-surfed across the English Channel.
On the other hand, Mr. Bezos founded Blue Origin in the year 2000. He will start his New Shepard business on July 20th. It is expected to reach the Karman Line – the recognized boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and space – at an average sea level of 100 km. After that, it will return to Earth within 10 minutes.
