DALLAS — The path to the 2024 Republican presidential nomination runs through Texas on Sunday, as former President Trump and two other potential White House rivals took the podium on the final day of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas.
It also highlighted the results of the CPAC poll for the Republican presidential nomination, which the former president is expected to dominate, as he did at the CPAC poll in Orlando, Florida in late February.
What Donald Trump will say when he is stationed at CPAC Dallas
The CPAC, the largest and most influential gathering of conservative leaders and activists for a long time, has become Trump’s fest since his victory in the 2016 presidential election.

After more than five months in the White House, Trump remains hugely popular with the GOP base, as he continues to play a kingmaker in the 2022 GOP primaries and repeatedly flirts with the 2024 presidential run to try to return to the White House. a house.
As expected, Trump easily won a CPAC poll in Orlando, Florida in late February, with 55% support in the hypothetical 2024 GOP primary. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who finished second with 21% support, was a Republican. The only other one that reached a double number.

DeSantis, a first-term governor and Trump ally, whose popularity has soared among conservatives across the country for his resistance to new coronavirus lockdowns and restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic, easily topped the second poll that didn’t include Trump. DeSantis finished with 43% support in the face of the hypothetical nomination, while another strong Trump supporter, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, came in second with 11%.
Just as in Orlando, there will be two questions for the 2024 Republican nomination in the CPAC poll — which 3,200 conference attendees handle via an online application — one with Trump and one without the former president.
The poll results will also be published on Sunday afternoon, half an hour before the former president’s speech. Trump, who is giving the keynote address to the crowd, is the final keynote speaker at the three-day event.
But two other potential contenders for 2024 will address the crowd earlier in the day – Noem and Senator Rick Scott of Florida, a two-term former governor and current chairman of the Republican Senate National Committee.
Donald Trump Jr. in 2024?
Some political critics see Trump’s eldest son as a potential contender for the Republican nomination in the upcoming race to the White House if the former president does not run.
“I haven’t thought about it personally,” Donald Trump Jr. answered when asked by Fox News Friday before his CPAC speech if he’d consider the 2024 race if his father hadn’t launched a campaign.

“There are some people talking about it in terms of the polls,” Trump Jr., who remains very popular with the MAGA crowd, said.
He stated, “I’ve seen a group that put me on top if not on top of the list. Who knows. The reality in this job is that you also have to do the day job. It’s not just about the election campaign. For the things that are out there that I believe in as governor. I will do that regardless.”
Crenshaw supports modern 2024
Representative Dan Crenshaw of Texas, a rising star in the Republican Party, on Saturday wrapped up a three-day swing across New Hampshire, the state in a century that held the first primary in the presidential nomination calendar.

Crenshaw, who lost an eye in combat while serving as a US Navy officer in Afghanistan, headed a fundraiser for the state’s Republican Party. He is also the special guest at the Gold Star Family Dinner. Gold Star families consist of spouses, children, parents, siblings, or others whose loved ones died in combat while serving in the US military. He also spoke at the Veterans Swim with Mission (SWAM) Festival, which was a day of military-themed activities for families in support of veterans.
Political critics see the 37-year-old Crenshaw as a potential candidate for the next Republican presidential nomination, and a visit to New Hampshire will only lead to further speculation.
But Crenshaw puts cold water on such talk.
And on Thursday he told New Hampshire television station WMUR “Not any time soon” when asked about running for president.
Iowa Cattle Call
The spotlight shifts later this week to Iowa, the state whose caucuses for half a century have knocked them off the presidential nomination schedule.

Earlier today, Pence will headline a fundraiser for Republican Representative Randy Feenstra, at the Feenstra Family Picnic, in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Iowa marks Pence’s third visit to an early state in recent months, after speaking at an event in South Carolina in late April and New Hampshire last month.
Pompeo’s station in Iowa will already be the second this year.
And last week, the South Carolina Republican Party announced that Pompeo will headline its annual Silver Ball, on July 30. The event is the largest fundraiser for Republicans in the state, which votes in third place in the Republican nomination table.
