Tennessee (WPIX) – A New Jersey woman was found dead in Tennessee Saturday night after the baby’s father kidnapped her and her two-year-old son earlier in the week, officials said Sunday.
Authorities issued an amber alert on Friday after it emerged that Tyler Rios, 27, had kidnapped 24-year-old Yasmin Aoyar and their baby boy.
Officials said authorities found the boy and Rios in Monterey, Tennessee, early Saturday morning. However, Uyar remained missing. Her body was later discovered in a nearby wooded area, off I-40, officials said Sunday.

Uyar’s mother, Karen Uyar, confirmed the discovery of her daughter’s body. On Saturday, she said she would be traveling to Tennessee to be reunited with her grandson.
“My family would like to share that at 8:15 last night we were notified that Jasmine’s remains have been found in Tennessee. While my family mourns the loss of Jasmine, please remember that it was not just [domestic violence] victim. She was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt and cousin. Her life will be celebrated as her greatest gift to this world, and Sebastian will always need all of our love and support. While I’m sure you all need the details (as we are), I ask that you please give us this day to grieve in private as a family. We will continue to share information, including funeral arrangements as we confirm them,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
Police arrested Rios and initially charged him with first-degree kidnapping, according to the Union District Attorney’s Office. He was expected to be extradited to New Jersey to face additional criminal charges in the Union District Supreme Court.
In Highland Park, New Jersey, where Karen Oyer lives, a vigil was held for her daughter Saturday night. Friends and family gathered at the repaired Highland Park Church to pray for her.
“We were so relieved to know that Sebastian was safe and relieved that Tyler was being held but our focus, along with getting Sebastian back from Tennessee, is finding Jasmine,” said Karen Uyar.
The family’s terrifying and touching ordeal began Friday, when the 24-year-old mother did not show up for work and the boy was not delivered to daycare, according to officials.

Police checked the family into their New Jersey home, but no one was there.
Amber’s alarm is sounded and police from several local, state, and federal agencies begin a frantic search for the pair, believing that Rios may have kidnapped them.
Karen Oyer told PIX11 News on Friday that Rios and her daughter had known each other since high school, but had not been a couple since shortly after their son was born. She said her daughter was assaulted multiple times by Rios and had a restraining order.
“We tried really hard to get Jasmine to leave him but she was trying to share it with his parents and he often thought they would get back together,” Karen Uyar said.
Oyar was planning to move out of her apartment this weekend to a place where Rios could not find her or their son, according to Karen Oyar, who believes this may have been the reason for the kidnapping.
“She was actually on her way to the transition,” Karen Oyer said Friday. “We usually talk every day but I didn’t speak to her yesterday because she was busy packing and I didn’t want to be bothered.”
Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the Office of the Attorney General Lieutenant Johnny Ho at 908-403-8271 or Detective Richard Acosta at 908-347-0404.
