Tokyo Olympics: Novak Djokovic ‘a little divided’ over playing at the Games

Speaking to reporters after defeating Matteo Berrettini in the Grand Slam, Djokovic said the lack of spectators as well as strict Covid-19 restrictions affect whether he will compete in Tokyo.

“My plan was always to go to the Olympics, but now I’m a little divided,” said Djokovic. “It’s kind of a 50-50 because of what I’ve heard in the past few days.”

Djokovic added on not letting in viewers: “Yeah, that’s not great news. That was really disappointing to hear that.

“I also heard that there will be a lot of restrictions inside [Athletes’] village. It is likely that you will not be able to see other athletes perform live.

“I can’t even get a Stringer which is a very important part of my team. I’m limited by the number of people I can fit into my team as well.”
