The mother of a kidnapped toddler has been found dead, New Jersey authorities said Sunday, and Tut’s father is accused of kidnapping the couple.
The Union County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement that Tyler Rios, 27, of Highland Park, New Jersey, is charged with the kidnappings of Sebastian Rios, 2, and Yasmin Uyar, 24, of Rahway, New Jersey.
Authorities issued an amber alert on Friday afternoon after the child did not appear at nursery school and his mother did not arrive at work.
Prosecutors said they found the child on Saturday in Monterey, Tennessee, where his father was arrested. They said Oyar’s body was found the same day in a wooded area off Interstate 40.
Oyar’s mother, Karen Oyar, claimed Rios informed authorities of the body’s whereabouts, NJ.com reports. She remembered her daughter as a “great mother”.
CBS New York reported that friends said Oyar had a restraining order against Rios.
