Seth Meyers brutally mocks Donald Trump Jr’s CPAC bomb

Seth Meyers returned from a two-week vacation Monday just in time to toast Donald Trump Jr. for his disastrous attempt at comedy at the CPAC Summer Conference in Dallas.

The Late Night host began: “Trump has revealed a lot about our politics, but the one main thing is that many prominent Republicans are very strange.” And no one is stranger than the eldest son of the former president, who tried and failed to make some “incomprehensible jokes”.

After praising Texas for “leading the charge” in conservative action, Trump Jr. quickly backed away from apparently attacking Democratic members of the state assembly for taking power in Austin. “We have to work on these things because these people have lost their minds,” he tells the cockroaches before a smile falls off his face. “right?”

“The last time someone bombed so badly he became the Joker,” Myers said in response. Don Jr looked like he walked into the scene at a student improvisation and covered it up. “Don, I said freeze, you must have something!” Then he added, “Don Jr. has all the charm and charisma of a dude who sells time shares in the hotel conference room that Her PowerPoint just crashed.”

Later, Myers hounded the CPAC audience for their actual cheer of low vaccination rates, joking, “This is the political equivalent of applauding when the waiter drops some plates.”

“That’s what the Republican Party and the right-wing media have done,” he added. “A movement celebrating low vaccination rates and crazy conspiracy theories about attempts to get more people to take a life-saving vaccine. If Republicans had any shame at all, they would look inward and ask themselves how they got here, but they won’t because…”

In doing so, she once again basked in the glory of Trump Jr. saying, “These people have lost their minds… haven’t they?”
