Ghostwire: Tokyo has been postponed to early 2022 in order to “protect the health” of game workers.
Announced on Twitter, developer Tango Gameworks thanked fans for their patience, and promised to show more supernatural action game in the coming months. “The new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we’ve always imagined it,” read the statement:

Although no specific reason was given for the delay, protecting employees’ health could cause production problems related to COVID-19 (particularly given the recent spike in cases in Japan), or avoid a crisis culture in the studio. It may refer to both.
Ghostwire: Tokyo was previously scheduled to launch for PS5 and PC this year. It’s the latest game from legendary director Shinji Mikami and studio Tango Gameworks (The Evil Inside), and while it includes horror genres, it’s more of an action-adventure game.
Despite the Xbox’s purchase of Tango Gameworks’ parent company, ZeniMax Media, PS5 exclusive deals for Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop will be honored. However, Deathloop’s exclusivity will eventually come to an end, and you can expect to see Ghostwire: Tokyo as a similar deal. Microsoft has not yet commented on when the Xbox versions of the games will arrive.
It’s not the only game that has been delayed this year, and it’s a trend that is set to continue. Ghostwire isn’t even the first game to be delayed today, as Just Cause Mobile also saw an unexpected boost in 2022.
