It appears that Drake Bell celebrated avoiding imprisonment over charges of misconduct with a minor by going live on Instagram with his infant son.

An Ohio judge has sentenced the former Nickelodeon star to two years of probation after pleading guilty to criminal charges involving a minor. Bell, 35, whose real name is Jared Drake Bell, appeared in court on Monday via Zoom from California where he was handed probation plus 200 hours of community service and a no-contact order to the victim.

People reported that less than an hour after his virtual appearance in court, Bill took to Instagram Live where fans assumed he would talk about the case. However, he has instead sat with his son in his lap, playing the piano and singing to him and the camera.

“Father Soon Jam Sich,” commented on the video, which was posted by the media on his feed but appears to have since been removed.

People note that the video, like most of his music posts on Instagram, appears to have been posted from the same room he sat in for the sentencing hearing. He reportedly changed his jacket and tie to a casual shirt.

The brief appearance on Instagram Live marks the actor and musician’s first social media post with his son after he confirmed in a June 29 statement, written in Spanish, that he and his wife of three years, Janet von Schmeling, welcomed their first child together.

A translation of Bell’s post at the time read: “In response to various untrue rumors, I have been married for almost 3 years and we are fortunate to be the father of an amazing son.”

“Thank you so much to all my fans around the world for your good wishes,” he added in a tweet.

That same month, Bell pleaded guilty to one count of disseminating material harmful to the events and one count of trying to endanger children. He posted a $2,500 bond and was released from the Cuyahoga County Jail on June 3 after his arrest in Cleveland.

“Today I accept this petition because my behavior was wrong. I am sorry that the victim was harmed in any way – it was clearly not my intention,” Bell said in court on Monday after the ruling. “I took this very seriously, and once again I just want to apologize to her and anyone else who may have been affected by my actions.”

Before the judge’s ruling, Bell’s victim, now 19, spoke about the ordeal.

“The pain the accused caused me is indescribable, and it is getting worse every day,” she said in an emotional statement. “Being someone who meant the world to me has made me feel more pain than I did before.”

She also called Bell a homosexual, accused him of sexual misconduct on two occasions, and sent her “blatant” sexual pictures and messages when she was a teenager.

Bell’s lawyer denied the allegations in his refutation.

The actor’s attorneys, Ian Friedman and Madeline Grant, discussed the case in a statement shared on Twitter.

“Today’s petition and judgment reflect the conduct for which Mr. Bell has accepted responsibility,” the statement read. “The victim’s allegations, which go beyond what all parties have agreed upon, not only lack supporting evidence, but are inconsistent with the facts obtained through an extensive investigation.”

They continued to note that sexual registration was neither enforced nor pleaded guilty to any such crime. Bell pleaded guilty to one count of disseminating material harmful to the events and one count of attempting to endanger children.

The statement concluded by saying, “Drake and his family are relieved and grateful to have this matter behind them. He once again looks forward to performing for all of his supporting fans around the world.”

Fox 8 previously reported that Bell had engaged in an inappropriate conversation with a victim that was “at times of a sexual nature.”

According to the outlet, prosecutors say the victim, 15, filed a report with the local police department of Canada in 2018 regarding an incident involving Bell that occurred in Cleveland on December 1, 2017. Police in Canada contacted authorities in Cleveland and an investigation ensued.

Bell tweeted about playing Cleveland’s Odeon Concert Club on December 1 of that year but the post has since been deleted.

Prosecutors said Bell allegedly at the ceremony “violated his duty of care, and in doing so created a risk of harm to the victim.”

Bell is also known as Drake Campana. “Drake and Josh” ran from 2004-2007 and saw him and his onscreen brother Josh Beck as two teenagers trying to survive high school and learning to live.
