Pope Francis leaves hospital after undergoing surgery

The procedure the pope underwent 10 days ago was a “scheduled surgical intervention for symptomatic stenotic diverticulosis,” according to a statement from the Holy See Communications Office at the time.

Diverticulitis is inflammation that occurs when people develop small pouches in the walls of the colon.

The sacs or sacs are called diverticula. It is usually asymptomatic, but it can cause discomfort and occasional bleeding.
