3.6 magnitude earthquake hits Shimla

Himachal Pradesh: A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck Shimla at 7:47 pm Thursday. “Quake of magnitude 3.6, occurred 07-15-2021, 19:47:26 IST, Latitude: 31.19 & Long: 77.92, Depth: 10 km, Location: Shimla, Himachal Pradesh,” the National Seismology Center said in a tweet.

Wednesday’s earthquake hit Tora of Meghalaya and Chamhai of Mizoram. Last week, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit the Golpara district of Assam.

“A magnitude 5.2 earthquake, occurred 07-07-2021, 08:45:25 India Time, Latitude: 26.15 and Length: 90.28, Depth: 14 km, Location: 71 km North of Tora, Meghalaya, India,” the Seismological Department carried out by tweeting.

On July 5, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake hit Jaghar district in Haryana state. The tremors were also felt in Delhi and the NCR region. The National Seismological Center said the quake’s epicenter was located 10 kilometers north of Gajar in Haryana state.

Netizens started sharing their experience with the earthquake, with few saying that their homes were shaken by the earthquakes.

Before that, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake shook the Kutch district of Gujarat state. There were no reports of injuries or property damage. The earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale was recorded at 7.25 am, with its epicenter located 19 kilometers northeast of Doday. The Koch region is located in a “high seismic hazard zone”.

The region experienced a devastating 6.9-magnitude earthquake in January 2001.

On July 14, more than 20 earthquakes shook the east coast of Taiwan, causing some damage. The Associated Press reported 22 earthquakes over a two-hour period starting at 6:52 a.m.

The first was the largest with a magnitude of 5.2, the report said, and the others ranged between 3.0 and 5.0 on the Richter scale. The earthquakes in Hualien County were around the middle of the east coast of the island.
