A small Russian passenger plane made an emergency landing Friday in Siberia after an engine failure, emergency officials said. All 19 passengers and crew survived.
Soon after the An-28 disappeared in the Tomsk region of Western Siberia, rescue helicopters spotted it lying in a field on its stomach.

Emergency officials said the passengers and crew were not seriously injured and were flown by helicopter to the city of Tomsk.

Russian news reports said the crew made an emergency landing after one of its engines failed.
An-28 is a small Soviet-style short-range turboprop used by many small carriers throughout Russia and some other countries.
The plane belonged to the local airline Sila and was on its way from the town of Kidrovoy to Tomsk.

The cabin crew reported no problems prior to the plane’s disappearance, but the plane’s emergency beacon was activated during the flight, indicating that the plane had made an emergency landing or crashed.

The accident comes ten days after another Russian plane crashed while preparing to land on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s far east, killing all 28 people on board. The investigation into the crash of the An-26 is still ongoing.
