Bay Area counties issue strong recommendations for indoor disguise as COVID cases rise, even for vaccinations

[ad_1]

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Sonoma and the City of Berkeley are recommending everyone hide as a precaution against the further spread of COVID-19.

Out of great caution, officials say, people are being advised to wear masks indoors in places like grocery or retail stores, theaters and family entertainment centers, even if they are fully vaccinated. Companies are urged to adopt universal concealment requirements for customers entering the interior of their business. Health officials say workplaces must comply with Cal/OSHA requirements and fully vaccinated employees are encouraged to wear masks indoors if the employer has not confirmed the vaccination status of those around them.

Bay Area health officials said they will reconsider that recommendation in the coming weeks as they continue to monitor transmission rates, hospitalizations, deaths, and increases in vaccination rates across the region.

The group that compiled this ad is referred to as the Gulf Region Alliance. Which you may remember was a term used in the early days of the pandemic where Bay Area health departments got together to coordinate their regulations on things like concealment, work restrictions, etc. colored layers.

While this directive doesn’t enforce concealment like Los Angeles County health officials – we’re hearing reports from several counties like Marin actually reporting a slight increase in cases. Not to mention, vaccination rates as a country have slowed significantly in the past month. About 60% of Californians still receive the vaccination with at least one dose.

In June, delta variants accounted for 43% of all cases in California. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that delta variants are now responsible for 58% of new infections nationwide.
