NFL veteran Richard Sherman faces multiple criminal charges after his arrest

Richard Sherman, a veteran NFL veteran, faces five criminal charges stemming from his arrest early Wednesday morning after he allegedly tried to make his way to his wife’s home in Seattle, according to a report.

Sherman, 33, has been charged with five misdemeanors, including driving under the influence, reckless endangerment of road workers, resisting arrest, and two domestic violence-related counts of malicious harm and criminal trespass, according to the Seattle Times.

The former cornerback of the San Francisco 49ers was released without bail Thursday after being arrested the day before in two separate incidents, which included a solo car crash and attempted home burglary.

“I love and support my husband,” Sherman’s wife Ashley Moss said in a statement after Thursday’s hearing. “I am committed to helping Richard get the support and care he needs. Richard has always been a loving father and husband. We look forward to seeing him back home with his family.”

ESPN reported that Sherman is scheduled to return to court on Friday afternoon when he is expected to plead not guilty to all charges.

State police are investigating Sherman after a car registered in his name crashed into a construction site and was later found abandoned early Wednesday morning. Redmond police arrested the NFL veteran shortly after he received a call that he was trying to break into his wife’s home.

According to reports, he tried to stay away from the police after being told he would be arrested, and later was detained with the help of a police dog.

Video surveillance from Moss’ parents’ home shows the frightening incident as an angry Sherman uses his body to try to get inside the house.

The former longtime Seattle Seahawks star can be heard screaming “come through,” in the chilling video.

Moss previously told the Times after news of Sherman’s arrest broke that her husband was acting out of “personality.”

“At this time, we will not make any statements except that he did not harm anyone,” she told the newspaper. “My kids weren’t hurt in the accident. He’s a good person and that’s not his character. We’re fine, just trying to get him out. I want people to know that no one was hurt.”

She could be heard telling the 911 operator that Sherman had had two bottles of liquor prior to Wednesday’s incident.
