An average earthquake of 4.4 on the Richter scale 59 km northwest of Colchani, Bolivia
4.4 Earthquake Jul 17 12:49 am (GMT -4)
Just 35 minutes ago, a 4.4-magnitude earthquake occurred near Colchani, Potosi Province, Bolivia. The earthquake was recorded just after midnight on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 12:49 am local time, at a medium to significant depth of 241.9 kilometers below the surface, and the event was recorded by the US Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report about it. A second report was released later by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), which also classified it as a 4.4-magnitude earthquake, and according to preliminary calculations, we don’t expect many people to feel the earthquake and it didn’t cause it. Any harm. In Kolchane (population 12,000, 59 km), and Uyuni (pop 10,300, 79 km), the earthquake may not have been felt. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update the magnitude and depth if these things change and follow up if other important news about the earthquake becomes available. If you felt this earthquake (or if you were near the epicenter), please share your experience and submit a short “I felt it” report! Other users would love to hear about it, and also if you didn’t feel the earthquake despite being in the area, please report it! Your contribution is also valuable for seismology, earthquake risk analysis, and mitigation efforts. You can use your device’s location or a map to indicate where you are during the earthquake. Thank you! Data on the same earthquake was reported by different agencies
Information: The more agencies report the same earthquake and publish similar data, the more you can trust the data. It usually takes up to a few hours for earthquake parameters to be calculated with near-perfect accuracy.
