The Milwaukee Bucks received some bad news ahead of Game Five of the NBA Finals on Saturday.
Giannis’ brother Thanassis Antetokounmue was disqualified from the match after he entered health and safety protocols, according to the NBA’s injury report. Antetokounmpo is the only player on the report included in the protocols, with Donte DiVincenzo and Sam Merrill also having pre-existing ankle injuries.
Antetokounmpo’s older brother was seeing occasional minutes for the Bucks in the playoffs, appearing in 13 out of 21 games averaging 3.5 minutes per game. His biggest appearance was a 10-minute game in the Game of the Eastern Conference finals.
While this isn’t a huge loss for the Bucks, the development is likely worrisome for the Bucks due to the possibility that Antetokounmpo was spending time with his brother, the current NBA Finals MVP favorite.
Game 5 is still ready to report at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday in Phoenix.
