More than 60 people were disinfected Saturday after experiencing an airborne chemical spill at a Texas water park, authorities said.

They said 26 people were treated in hospitals, including a 3-year-old who was “in critical condition” after the accident at the children’s pool at Six Flags Harbor Splashdown in Spring, Texas.

The Harris County Fire Marshal office tweeted that it was investigating the source of the leak while monitoring air quality at the water park outside of Houston.

“Infected people experience slight skin and/or inhalation irritation,” the office said. She did not go into details of what the decontamination procedure would entail.

Six Flags spokeswoman Sandra Daniels said in a statement that the water park was closed for the rest of the day as a precaution.

“A few guests in a section of the park reported having respiratory irritation,” she said. “The safety of our guests and team members is always our top priority and the park has been evacuated immediately while we try to identify a cause.”

The park fully reopened on July 3 after a pandemic-related shutdown.
