Vice President Kamala Harris is turning to what a White House official told Fox News was a “routine doctor’s appointment” at Walter Reed Medical Center on Sunday.
The visit to Bethesda, Maryland, comes after she met with Democratic lawmakers from Texas on Tuesday. Three Democrats have tested positive for the coronavirus, with one testing positive Friday night and two more Saturday morning.

Fox News asked Harris’s office if the vice president was showing any symptoms of COVID-19 but they did not immediately respond.
Harris’ spokeswoman, Simone Sanders, said Saturday that Harris has not been in close contact with the infected lawmakers.
“Based on the schedule of these positive tests, it was determined that the vice president and her staff present at the meeting were not at risk of exposure because they had not been in close contact with those who tested positive and therefore did not need to be tested or fully vaccinated,” Sanders said in a statement.
Harris’ visit to Walter Reed came when she tweeted a warning about the delta type of virus: “The delta variant is no joke. Get vaccinated.”

“The House Democratic Caucus follows all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and protocols. This is a sober reminder that COVID is still with us, and while vaccines offer tremendous protection, they don’t,” House Democratic Caucus Chair Chris Turner said in a statement. We still have to take precautions.”

Democrats from Texas went to D.C. on a special flight where they abandoned a special session of the state legislature in order to prevent a vote on new voting reforms. On Tuesday morning, Texas House of Representatives members who remain in the state passed a Call of the House proposal requiring all members to be present — those who don’t can be arrested and brought to the state Capitol.
When the Democrats, who were already in D.C. at the time, did not turn up, they became liable to arrest to be moved to D.C. Governor Greg Abbott said that because they are leaving the current special session, he will “continue to call for special session after special session because overtime will continue until they come up to vote.”
