The Play Store is giving Wear OS the attention it needs

Google is teasing more of the Material You interface design for Wear OS, and they’re bringing a major upgrade to the app and wallpaper-installing experience from your phone.

Watch owners are encouraged to search for new Wear OS and Watch Faces for Wear OS category pages on the Play Store, and are encouraged to include the words “Watch” or “Watch Faces” in searches for compatible apps.

Users will be able to install an app for the selected Wear OS device directly from the phone by pressing the override button above the install button.

Here’s a look at the Play Store with the new Material Language it designs on Wear OS. In addition to the revised look, Google says it’s redirecting URL and in-app purchases to your phone.

These changes have already rolled out to some devices, but expect them to hit your phone and Wear OS 2.x devices in the next several weeks before a big v3.0 reboot sometime this summer.
