Las Vegas Raiders president Marc Badain, who was instrumental in the team’s move from Oakland and a key member of the organization for 30 years, resigned on Monday.

The club issued a press release with a statement from owner Mark Davis, calling Badain “an integral part of the Raider family”, spanning a period in which he saw him progress from “training camp driver to president of the entire organisation”.

The team’s general counsel, Dan Ventrell, will take over Baden’s role on an interim basis. Ventrelle spent 17 years with the organization and was the coordinator with local Nevada officials for the move and the lead negotiator for player contracts.

In a text message to the media, Baden thanked the organization as he looked forward to future “endeavours.”

He wrote: “The successful construction and operation of the Allegiant Stadium was unequivocally the most challenging part of my 30 years with the organization. His vision to the end was so rewarding” “Together, the Raiders and Las Vegas accomplished what seemed impossible. Now that the project is complete, It’s time to focus on my family and look forward to new endeavors.”

Badain was appointed by the Raiders in 1991 as an intern, and became interim president in 2013 after Amy Trask resigned. In 2015, the temporary mark was removed.

The Conquerors are about to enter their second season in Las Vgeas. The club went 8-8 last year, and finished second in West Asia, behind the Kansas City Chiefs.

At the conclusion of the release, Davis wrote “Once a Ryder, always a Ryder,” a mantra that Baden also wrote in his manifesto.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
