Fauci and Walensky likely consider bringing back masks and other virus bases amid Delta’s spread

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Rochelle Wallinsky and government epidemiologist Dr. Anthony Fauci are likely to face questions at a Senate hearing Tuesday about whether the United States should reinstate health measures such as mask mandates as the COVID delta variable spreads .

Walensky and Fauci — who is President Biden’s chief medical adviser — will appear before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP).

The hearing aims to take a look at the “way forward” out of the pandemic. But concern about the delta variable has led some in the United States to demand the return of strict health measures from the height of the pandemic. This talk has led opponents of such measures to backtrack on moves they say would be counterproductive.

Los Angeles County on Friday ordered citizens to wear masks indoors, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated, becoming the first major US jurisdiction to roll back virus mitigation rules.

Former Surgeon General said CDC mask guidelines are ‘previous’ and ‘wrong’

The next day, former Surgeon General Jerome Adams, who served under former President Trump, said the CDC should amend its guidance that people with vaccines do not need masks — which was introduced in May with great fanfare — to bring back the masks. For everyone.

“Instead of vaxing it or masking it, emerging data suggests that the CDC should advise hiding it and hiding it in areas of their own.” [increasing] “Cases and positivity – until we see the numbers come down again,” Adams said in a tweet on Twitter.

Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, responded to Adams: “No. No. Hell no.”

Multiple governors have also been on record in recent days rather than re-mandating masks, although more diplomatic than Cruz.

“For more than a year and a half, South Carolina residents have learned about the virus, they know what they should do to protect themselves from it, and the vaccine is available to anyone who wants it,” South Carolina spokesperson Henry McMaster, R-, told WBTW.

“We’re using the vaccination tool,” said Washington Governor Jay Inslee, a Democrat, according to MyNorthwest.com. “This is the ultimate solution to this pandemic. We don’t want to wear masks for 32 years – vaccines stop this thing from dying.”

Cruz may not be a member of the Assistance Committee. But Republican Senator Rand Paul, who has a history of combative exchanges with Fauci, will be at the hearing on Tuesday. Paul last week introduced a bill to repeal federal mask mandates on public transportation, which could foreshadow the question that will prompt the president’s top health officials to roll back such mandates themselves.

“The federal government’s forcing the American people to continue to wear masks despite the fact that we have already reached herd immunity is ridiculous and should end immediately,” Ball said in a statement. “In the free province, people will assess their personal risk factors and be smart enough to ultimately make medical decisions such as wearing a mask themselves.”

Paul joined several senators in introducing the bill, including Senator Roger Marshall, a Republican from Cannes, who is also a member of the Assistance Committee.

Meanwhile, Democrats on the committee are likely to raise concerns about the increased prevalence of the delta variant and vaccine reluctance among many in the United States.

“The Delta type of virus that causes COVID-19 is increasing cases across the country,” Committee Chair Patty Murray, D-Wash, said in a tweet Monday. “It’s so important that you and your loved ones are vaccinated to protect yourselves and help save lives.”
