Blue Origin, founder of Jeff Bezos, announced the sale of nearly $100 million in tickets for future passenger flights to the edge of space, on Tuesday.

“Demand is very high,” Bezos said at Blue Origin’s presentation after its first manned flight.

The company hasn’t revealed pricing for the seats on its new Shepherd rocket. The only indication of Blue Origin’s pricing structure is an auction the company held for a seat on its first flight with Bezos, which was valued at $28 million. That’s several times the $200,000 to $500,000 range that Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin’s sub-orbital space tourism competitor, has forced to reserve seats on its future flights.

Bezos said Blue Origin “will be launching human missions twice this year,” but said he was “not yet sure” how many crews the company would launch at New Shepard in 2022.

“We’ll find out,” Bezos said, adding that the company wants to launch at a “very high” rate in the future.

Blue Origin currently has two New Shepard rocket boosters at its Texas facility, one for research cargo flights and one for passenger flights.

“We really want to practice on this car, so we’re going to have to build more reinforcements … to fly more frequently,” Bezos said.
