After months of leaks and rumors, Samsung has officially announced that the upcoming Unpacked event will take place around Wednesday, August 11th at 10AM ET / 7AM PT.
Invitations to the next Unpacked event have been sent out to the media today, and while Samsung hasn’t specifically mentioned which devices it plans to announce, between recent leaks and the event’s tagline that reads “Prepare to Unlock,” it’s clear it will be at least one of the main talking points in Samsung about its next-generation foldability.
Based on recent leaks, we expect Samsung’s next two foldable flagships to be the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. The Z Fold 3 will reportedly feature a large 7.6-inch foldable display featuring a built-in stylus. Support, which means that it will cater to the power users who are looking for something hybrid between a tablet and a traditional big screen phone. Meanwhile, with its smaller dimensions (and presumably lower price tag), the Z Flip 3 appears to be aimed more at casual consumers looking for something more compact in an old-school phone design, but with some high-end specs.
The inclusion of stylus support in the Z Fold3 would be a huge improvement over the previous Galaxy Folds, as it indicates that Samsung has created a new type of flexible display that can withstand the repeated impact of the stylus. That’s because while previous Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip devices had a layer of what Samsung calls “ultra-thin glass,” this glass didn’t offer anywhere near the same kind of durability you get from a traditional smartphone, with the ability to Users therefore pinch those flexible screens with just their fingernails.
However, combing the increased durability with rumors of lower price tags for the Z Fold3 and Z Flip 3, Samsung may finally be signaling that its foldable devices are finally ready for action.

For the Galaxy Watch 4, Samsung’s next smartwatch represents a potential major departure from previous Galaxy watches, as it will run the new Samsung One UI Watch, which is based on Google’s Wear OS rather than Samsung’s Tizen OS. Retaining a rounded display and handy side buttons, the Galaxy Watch 4 is expected to be available in three sizes and will include updated health tracking such as advanced sleep metrics, VO2 Max, Spo2, continuous heart rate monitoring, and more.
Finally, the fourth gadget we expect to see in the Samsung Unpacked is the Galaxy Buds 2, which are rumored to be a replacement for the original Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Buds+ which will come with some kind of built-in ANC and a price tag. About $100.
However, the one device we don’t expect to see is the new Galaxy Note, which has long been rumored to skip a generation, in part due to a lack of available components due to the ongoing global chip crisis.
Notably, while Samsung has yet to reveal any information about its upcoming devices, Samsung today announced a reservation system for its upcoming flagships that offers some extra perks, a discount on Samsung Care+, and a swap credit increase for anyone who pre-orders new gadgets. before its official debut.
Either way, it looks like we’ll have to wait until August 11th to get a real look at everything Samsung has planned for its next big hardware show, so until then, stay tuned for more updates at Gizmodo.com.
