HBO Max has partnered with Snapchat to bring full episodes of their series to the social media platform. With HBO Max Minis, users will be able to stream pilots from select series with up to 63 other Snapchat users.
The feature was announced today and is being offered by Minis, which launched late last year and host third-party app experiences within Snapchat. Minis allow users to do anything from meditating with Headspace to buying movie tickets with friends through Atom. And now, HBO Max Minis will let anyone on Snapchat watch full episodes of more than a dozen series from the streaming service for free, including The Flyers from Lovecraft Country and Game of Thrones. With simultaneous playback, everyone watching the title will be able to broadcast the same title together.
Snapchat users will be able to access HBO Max episodes by searching or by clicking the rocket icon from the chat. Once HBO Max Mini launches, users will be asked to verify their date of birth, which will filter out streamable episodes. The full list of episodes available to stream on an age-restricted basis is as follows:
Betty (season 2, episode 1) Craftopia Euphoria The Flight Attendant Game of Thrones Genera + ion Gossip Girl (2021) Looney Tunes Love Life Lovecraft Country Selena + Chef Titans Warrior World of Calm
Up to 64 users can join an HBO Max Mini session through a shared link in the chat or by clicking a shared sticker, and users will be able to chat and send feedback while the title is broadcast. The trial episodes of the above series are free to stream even for users who are not HBO Max subscribers. However, users 18 and older will be required to subscribe to HBO Max to continue broadcasting a series once the pilot episode is over.

Party watching is an increasingly popular feature launched by mainstream streamers. For example, Apple is releasing FaceTime integration later this year to support group broadcasting with SharePlay, but many streaming devices like Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney Plus have their own in-app group viewing tools. HBO Max’s arrival at Minis marks the first major streaming operator to support streaming full episodes without ever leaving Snapchat.
“People love getting together to watch their favorite shows on HBO Max and talk about what’s going on,” Sarah Lyons, executive vice president of global product management for DTC at HBO Max, said in a statement. “Our partnership with Snapchat is another step towards fulfilling this desire for human connection and providing our fans with shared viewing opportunities, while deepening their emotional connection with the brand.”
