Why does everyone hate Space Jam LeBron, including the original director?

Everyone isn’t waking up because it’s not time to pile up now, according to Joe Pytka, the original Space Jam director. Like everyone else with a streaming subscription this weekend, Pytka took an hour out of his day to watch Space Jam: A New Legacy starring LeBron James, the man who constantly and needlessly casts shadows of Michael Jordan.

Like its predecessor, New Legacy was panned by critics and most people with access to Twitter but Pytka felt particularly strong about why this movie simply wasn’t good quality — and shockingly, it had nothing to do with LeBron being a terrible actor. Despite the film’s short time, Pytka told TMZ he couldn’t finish it in one sitting and had to start and stop the movie five times to get through everything. It’s a cartoon, man!

Pytka also compared the movie’s stars, saying that when Space Jam was released, Micahel Jordan was “the biggest celebrity in the world” while LeBron didn’t reach such heights. Pytka was also upset with the movie choice, which is very rude given that both Diana Taurasi and Nneka Ogwumike were in that movie and you literally couldn’t ask for more than that. The only valid coin that Pytka gives is describing the new film’s soundtrack as “insignificant” compared to the first film. When you are right, you are right.

But what seems really angry in Pytka’s pie is cure Bugs Bunny who (SPOILER ALERT) endures emotional death by deleting from the Warner Brothers server to save LeBron’s life. While Bugs returns at the end of the movie, it’s unclear if he’s still in Tune World or if he’s a ghost that haunts Lebron forever. Either way, this is a little heavy for a children’s movie, and I, too, was annoyed by Bugs’ unnecessary emotional arc that didn’t include his marriage and lifelong commitment to Lola Bunny.

Somehow, somehow, the Zoey 101 reboot is still happening. Could. Probably. Depends on who you ask.
