In the words of coach Tom Tibodeau, the Knicks are looking into the July 29 draft for “wingers and bowlers.”
They have one in their midst who did a great job during the 41-31 season. But they could lose it to a class competitor at free agency if they don’t advance, The Post has learned.
According to the NBA source, two Atlantic League teams, the Celtics and 76ers, are interested in Brix Swinger Reggie Bullock, who started all season with either a shooting guard or a junior striker.
The Lakers, for whom Bullock played in the 2018-2019 season alongside LeBron James, also include Bullock in their list, the source said. Interestingly, a report emerged on Wednesday that the Lakers will attempt to lure Chris Paul back to Los Angeles. Paul and Bullock are both from North Carolina and are close relatives.
Bullock would prefer to stay with the Knicks, but he will likely rule the full $9.23 million mid-level exception. One source believes Bullock, who turned 30 in March, will seek a three-year deal.

The Knicks are always on the lookout for the next shiny new thing and will be exploring free proxy options as well, but they have a sincere interest in getting Bullock back.
The Knicks don’t have to use their cover space to do so because they have the rights to Bullocks’ Early-Bird. Thus, they can exceed the salary cap to sign for it. The Knicks are eligible to give him a first year likely starting at $10.3 million, pending NBA review. This number is greater than the full mid-level exception. However, they must first reach the salary cap before making this offer.
One issue is that Bullock’s break performance was disappointing. In Game 3 in Atlanta, he went without goals. But in the regular season, Bullock was as tough as his nails, and Tibodo often called him “our unsung hero.”
Bullock was one of three players this season to shoot at least 44 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point ground and 90 percent from the free-throw line – based on 100 3-point attempts and 50 throw-ins. Free at a minimum. Of the other two people who did, Stephen Curry and Keri Irving, Bullock had the best plus and minus sign.
However, this is the time of year for the front desk to go shopping with its cover space. Thibodeau is known to have a yen for former Raptors/Blazers guard Norman Powell, who as expected withdrew from his contract. He will be seeking a deal approaching $20 million each — as well as another winger on the Knicks’ radar, Kelly Uber.
If the Knicks Bullock lose, they will likely try to match a modest offer to guard Frank Ntilikina, a restricted free agent. According to the league’s source, the Knicks have not ruled out a re-selection of the 2017 lottery picked by Phil Jackson, even if Tibodo barely played it last season.
The Knicks still loves his versatility as a base guard and defensive specialist on the flankers, and on Sunday he will appear for France versus the US Olympic team.
