Best Magnetic Battery Packs for iPhone 12

[ad_1]

Apple’s magnetic MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 costs $99. It charges the iPhone using the MagSafe magnet on the back of the iPhone. It is one of the typical Apple accessories. It comes in white only, works out of the box, and ships with Lightning.

But it is not without its problems. It has a small 1460mAh battery that can’t even fully charge the iPhone 12. No fast charging (charges at standard 5W rate). It does have reverse charging, but that only starts after your iPhone has been charged to 80%.

Unless the integrated Apple experience is very important to you, the MagSafe Battery Pack isn’t worth the price. Especially when you can find third-party battery packs that will fully wirelessly charge your iPhone, while costing half as much. But first…

Things to know before buying a magnetic battery pack for iPhone

The world of magnetic battery packs for iPhone 12 is brand new. These are basically wireless battery packs with magnets that snap to the back of the iPhone 12 (and backed cases).

Before you buy one, here are a few things you should know.

Capacity: Most reliable magnetic battery packs will go up to 5000mAh, and for good reason: Not only are 10000mAh battery packs heavy, but they also run very hot. You’ll find compact 10,000mAh battery packs on Amazon, but you should stay away from them for your own safety. Charging Speed: The magnetic battery packs listed here are only MagSafe compatible and not MagSafe certified. This means that the charging speed is set at 7.5W, while most of them will charge your iPhone at 5W (which depends on Qi charging standards). You’ll find battery packs advertising 15W charging speeds, but that’s just marketing hype and not a fact.

Now, to our recommendations.
